iOS 14 applies the regular apps to Apple's Safari and Mail following reboot

Apple offers you the option to use new default browser and email apps for iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. But it has been discovered that, at least in the 14.0 update release, this freedom of choice is only temporary: after rebooting your system, Safari and Mail will be restored to their respective defaults before you update the settings again. 9to5Mac posted earlier today on the problem.

The Verge has verified actions through a variety of various iPhones and iPads. This is almost definitely a flaw and something that the company will resolve in a couple of days with an upgrade to iOS 14.0.1. Although, amid Apple's new predicament with pending antitrust investigations, it's not a perfect look.

At least most people don't find themselves rebooting these machines with a lot of pace.

iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 released yesterday, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge can already be configured as your favorite default browser instead of Safari. Outlook and Spark are among the first applications to support the default email client option.
