Zoom payments are reported to receive strong calls encryption

Zoom will make video calls from its paid clients more encrypted; however, Reuters reports that Zoom does not plan to provide enhanced security to all accounts. A company security adviser told Reuters that it was still unclear whether certain accounts, such as non-profit users, could qualify for more secure calls.

"The Zoom approach to end-to - end encryption is a work in progress, from our draft cryptographic design, recently published last week, to our ongoing customer discussions," an eMail spokesman of the company told The Verge.

During the coronavirus pandemic, the videoconference platform grew in popularity but was afflicted with numerous safety problems. These include zoombombing, where the uninvited guest invades a pornography or other shock content into a video call and disrupts it.

However, adding complete encoding to end-to-end on each video call excludes customers from phone lines. And tighter encryption reported from Reuters would not allow Zoom's own security teams to add calls in real time to aid customers.

Zoom published its draft document on 22 May which outlines some of its coding plans.
