Microsoft is expected to make several major improvements to its built-in Windows 10 touch keyboard. The updated touch keyboard design builds on the company's Windows 10X work, adding new keypad animations, sounds, and an all-important ability to scan for and attach animated GIFs.
Microsoft named this WonderBar for Windows 10X, and the latest Windows 10 interface also features improved templates that are designed for typing, and the ability to shift the cursor through the touch keyboard space bar. This is very similar to how iOS lets you manipulate the cursor by putting a finger on the space bar and moving left, right, up and down to move around it.
Microsoft is also upgrading the Windows 10 emoji picker. The emoji picker that will trigger when you press Winkey + Period will soon have an updated interface based on Microsoft's Fluent Design framework. There is emoji quest, animated GIF support, and a merging of clipboard background and emoji feedback into an unified gui.
Keyboard and emoji updates, Microsoft is also introducing a new method of Windows dictation today. Dubbed Voice Typing, the text-to - speech interface built into Windows has been revamped. It includes a more modern interface, auto-punctuation, and modified backend that Microsoft promises to make it the most secure voice typing experience on Windows.
Many of these latest Windows 10 updates are being checked with Windows Insiders on the Dev Channel this week, and maybe not all of them will turn up for all the testers. It's part of a broader update that Microsoft is preparing for Windows 10 in the first half of 2021.
