On Friday the government denied a viral message saying that several "Chinese applications" in India had been restricted by the Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity).
The message went across the Web alleging that "immediate intervention" was demanded from Apple and Google by the National Informatics Center (NIC) that falls into the Meity to restrict applications from Chinese sources to Google Play and the App Store.
"TikTok, Clash of King and Sultan Game, Vigo Video and more were all mentioned in the viral false message of Chinese origin applications.
The Press Information Office (PIB) of the government checked the virus' message on a tweet and dubbed it fake.
What's the viral message telling?
The viral message posted by PIB Fact Check highlights the fact that the NIC has given the order to direct the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store to that the 14 applications produced by Chinese firms.
The message claims that the government led Google and Apple regional managers to restrict applications as they jeopardized user privacy and compromised the "country sovereignty."
The list includes apps like LiveMe, Bigo Live, Vigo Video, Beauty Plus, CamScanner (Clash of Kings), Club Factory, Shein, Romwe, AppLock, Vmate, and Sultan Game. The following apps are on the list.
He also argued that the government requested the Tik Tok shops of Apple and Google.
It's not shocking that this false message is timed because anti-Chinese feelings are increasing in the region. Google had previously removed Google Play's Remove China Apps application for breach of disappointing behaviour.
The Delete China Apps had over 50 lakh downloads in a short period of time.
Likewise, TikTok 's alternative Mitron has helped increase the anti- Chinese feeling in India over the last month. Currently the TikTok clone app has over 50 lakh Google Play downloads.
