WhatsApp Continues Carrying Out Redesigned Storage Management Platform to Delete Spam Messages

WhatsApp is deploying a redesigned database management platform to delete spam messages. This tool was detected online earlier this year. The new data management platform lets users of WhatsApp quickly find, check, and uninstall bulk material to free up storage space on their mobile. The method also makes it easy to spot and uninstall unwanted files that have been forwarded or exchanged several times using the Instant Messaging software. The updated storage management platform rolled out this week for WhatsApp users worldwide will also deliver a range of clean-up tips.

Previously, WhatsApp only classified chats under the 'Space Usage' section that required users to free up some space on their phones. The latest update, however, revamps the experience by offering an all-new interface with a dedicated bar to show how much room the WhatsApp media content absorbs alongside other applications. There is also a dedicated feature to access media files that are forwarded several times via the app.

How to use WhatsApp storage management tool

  • Once the tool is rolled out to your phone, you can access the redesigned storage management tool by going in Settings > Storage and data > Manage storage on WhatsApp.
The redesigned storage management tool also lists files greater than 5 MB in size. You can also have the option to organize files by size and preview them before deleting. The update maintains the original chat list from which you can see threads that use more room.

In addition, WhatsApp has created a way to alert users directly with a message on top of their chats when their storage room is almost finished. Users should tap this message to easily activate the revamped storage management tool.

Initial signs of the revamped storage management platform were seen in June when WhatsApp was spotted adding unique options for removing big files as well as forwarded material. However, the Facebook-owned business was seen making more changes to the 'Storage Usage' portion in August. The revamped storage management platform has entered WhatsApp beta for final testing at the end of September.

Since WhatsApp is not limited to high-end or mid-range smartphones with more capacity and is being used on even entry-level models, the latest update is likely to help address mass storage problems. It can also help the app maintain its customer base, although some users frequently complain that it creates performance problems on their phones — mainly affecting the internal storage of their phones.
