Twitter's Stories version is being released in India.
The "fleets," the Snapchat-style Twitter tales, have been available in India . In India it has only been. It is being built world-wide gradually; fleets came to Italy last month after it was first introduced in Brazil.
"India is critical for Twitter because it is one of the most rapidly growing global audience markets," said Manish Maheshwari, Management Director of Twitter, India.
"We are eager to bring the fleet check to India and make this new commodity one of the first three nations on Earth."
"We'll know, from the trial in India, how the way Indians communicate on Twitter changes with a new way of conversation."
"We will learn how the way Indians engage on Twitter by adding a new way of conversation changes. It will also be interesting to see if the diversity of use is further strengthened by allowing people to share what they think in a light-touch and light-hearted way.
If Twitter gives fleets a global update, it's not obvious. The story format is omnipresent today for social media applications, which services such as YouTube, Skype and WhatsApp have attempted to use. While ephemeral posting is perhaps common to Twitter, the company has been slow to implement it.
