Twitter tells all iOS users accidentally that they can limit their tweets to replies

An update on Twitter's iOS app on Wednesday says the app will now allow all users to limit themselves to answering their tweets.

Since May, Twitter has been experimenting with this feature. Yesterday, it updated its mobile app's iPhone version and said the feature would spread more widely. A Twitter spokesperson now tells The Verge that incorrect release notes have been accidentally put forward; for now, it does not actually spread more widely.

We've tested a new way of chatting with precisely who you want in May, so you can make and consume more significant changes, read the App Store update text. All can now try this new feature and choose to answer their tweets.

A Twitter speaker states that the misconception was due to some inadvertently pushed release notes, not everyone is currently able to limit responses to tweets. It is then not clear whether the feature has been significantly extended with the recent update, but Twitter still seems to be testing a limitation response before the feature is available for more users.

Users who have access can then choose from 3 options: everyone can respond to their tweets. It is only the people they follow can answer them and only those that they mention can respond. If they have access, they can simply tap the box above the keyboard when composing a tweet saying Everyone is able to reply. Selecting an option will not make the future tweets default.

In recent months, the feature was one of the most interesting changes for Twitter, creating new memoirs and ways of talking on the platform. Responding to restricting the use of conversation can be a very good way to avoid harassment, but also it can be used to restrict talks to the basic functions of Twitter.
