Trump's campaign plans for a digital advertisement push at the Democratic Convention

U.S. — President Donald Trump's re-election team will inject millions of dollars into a digital advertisement drive next week amid the Democratic national convention, Trump's campaign spokesperson said on Saturday.

The Democratic National Convention ends on Monday and will end on Thursday with former Vice President Joe Biden officially approving his party's nomination to take on Trump in the presidential election of Nov. 3.

Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said that ad purchases could total more than $10 million and that the cost would be at least seven times higher. Many video advertising can contain extra participation costs.

Ad transactions, first mentioned by the New York Times, would include the Trump campaign to take over the 96-hour YouTube banner on Tuesday. The campaign will also run ads on major U.S. news sites, Murtaugh said.

Digital advertisements accounted for a limited portion of the combined advertising of both candidates, but next week's investments by Trump's campaign are substantial relative to recent spending on either side.

In mainstream outlets, including tv and radio, Biden invested $14.8 million in the week of August 8-14, while Trump invested $7 million, according to Advertising Analytics.

The Democratic Convention will feature an online and broadcast line-up of heavyweight politicians, emerging stars, and ordinary People arguing the case for Biden.

Biden would address the nation from his home state of Delaware after the party cancelled the Milwaukee in-person convention on fears regarding the coronavirus outbreak.
