TikTok to challenge the Executive Order of Trump

TikTok said on Saturday that he expects to file a lawsuit on Monday against President Donald Trump's executive order banning transactions with the famous short video app and its Chinese parent ByteDance, confirming the earlier Reuters story.

Reuters only announced on Friday that TikTok was going to challenge Trump's executive order as early as Monday.

TikTok said that he had been attempting to engage with the U.S. administration for almost a year, but faced lack of due process and that the government did not pay any attention to the truth.

To ensure that the rule of law is not ignored and that our business and customers are handled equally, we have no alternative but to contest the executive order in the legal system, said the business in a statement.

TikTok's creator ByteDance released a separate announcement on Sunday that he would formally file a lawsuit against Trump's administration on Monday, August 24.

Trump signed an executive order on August 14 that gave ByteDance 90 days to dissipate TikTok 's U.S. operations. ByteDance has made progress in discussions with potential acquirers, including Microsoft Corp and Oracle. Many U.S. ByteDance investors may also enter the winning bid.

Although TikTok is best known for its anodyne videos of teenagers dancing and going viral, U.S. officials have expressed concern that knowledge about users could be passed on to the Chinese government.

The White House spokesperson did not respond immediately to a request for comments.
