This third eye avoids accidents for smartphone addicts

At first glance, the invention of South Korean student Paeng Min-wook is no joke. This robotic third eye, which connects to a phone, lights up when it detects, via a sensor,  that you are looking at your phone and not what is happening in front of you when you walk. Once the eye is on, other ultrasonic sensors calculate the distance between you and a possible obstacle (a garbage can, another pedestrian, a traffic sign, etc.) and an audible message alerts you to avoid the looming accident. “  Since we can't look up from our smartphones, the extra eye will be needed in the future,  ” the student at the Royal College of Art in London tells Reuters. Now that you know a little more, is this a joke or a real step forward for the good of mankind?

Zombies. Answer: it is "  a warning, and not a real solution for smartphone addicts who are not careful when they walk in the street  ", explains Paeng Min-wook. With his satirical bionic system, the industrial design student hopes that people will become aware of their dependence on certain technologies and that it will allow us to initiate a reflection around our uses. The next step would be to have a live broadcast of what the third eye sees on the phone screen. But do we really want to live in a zombie society where humans look more and more like robots? You have three hours.
