Conference calls in Zoom and Skype have become a major part of everyday life, with a huge section of the working world now working remotely.
Therefore Dell has been adapting to the new Mobile Adapter Speaker Phone, which combines a USB-C hub with a conference call phone to improve audio quality by adding either HDMI or USB-A ports.
The Handheld Adapter Speakerphone allows you to plug in a 90W USB-C PD power adapter with a wrap-around cable and second USB-C port, while allowing you to use the 2 USB-A port (up to 10 Gbps), the 2.0 port (with 4 K H DR support at a refresh rate of 60 Hz).
However, there are no SD or Ethernet port — an especially confusing move because of the amount of video conferencing that relies on a strong internet connection.
Though you wouldn't have room to connect to your laptop, you could in theory also use the hub to plug an external USB-C monitor into your laptop.
On the phone side there are dedicated volume buttons, which answer or end a call and mutate with dual micro phones, which promise a 360-grade sound cancelation and built-in echo.
The main problem is the $199,99 price, which is expensive to use on a USB-C hub, but because USB speakers like this can cost $100 on themselves, it may be worth the additional convenience factor.
The Speaker Phone of the Dell mobile adapter is now available on our website.
