The new COVID-19 alerts from Google Maps will reopen further cities

Google continues to create more helpful features on Google Maps to help people navigate the pandemic in the cities that have begun to emerge. You can now see "relevant alerts" from transit agencies when you look to see public transit directions about obligatory precautions you are going to need to take, like wearing a facial cover.

So if a public transit network is halted indefinitely because of the ongoing response to COVID-19, I think you can get an explanation about it too.

Maps lets you see how crowded a train station is normally, but since historical statistics might not actually be relevant at this moment, you do have the option to display Live data for crowding.

The Maps Product Director, Ramesh Nagaraján, wrote in a blog post, "So simply look for a station on Google Maps or tap the Station on the Mapp, to see the checkout board and busyness data where available."

This anonymous information is collected from people who have enabled location history on their Google account through Google Maps. The company notes that the configuration is off by default, but Google apps use it for the best experience.

There are also additional alerts to be displayed on the driving mode which will 'notify you about the control points for COVID 19 and restrictions along your route, for example crossing national frontiers (starting from Canada , Mexico, and the U.S.).'

Finally, Google Maps will encourage you to do a quick piece of research to ensure that you are not turned off once you arrive in a medical facility or a testing center COVID-19 as your destination.

"There may need to be a COVID-19 appointment testing," is an example of the alert that will be issued earlier this week in Indonesia, Israel, the Philippines, South Korea and the US for medical facilities.

In March, Google Maps encouraged users to call their doctors if they had new coronavirus symptoms before they went to hospitals and sites. That occurred when some health facilities were overloaded with COVID-19 cases worldwide.

Google has emphasized the options for taking and providing food in the app more while many restaurants continue to be shut off for dining customers.
