The latest pixel features of Google include a 'security control' for walking alone

Google announces today that its Pixel Smartphones will be given the following new software features. After introducing car accident prevention last year, the company builds on its personal protection apps with a new security check tool to ensure that you are all right if you are out alone — perhaps on a walk or ride.

If you trigger the function, you set a time to check it in. Once the time comes, your entire screen is checked and your status is needed. You should ignore the request and tell you are all right, continue to instantly communicate your location with emergency personnel, or call 911.

If there is no response within one minute, the security test automatically notifies the contacts of your emergency and provides your Google Maps location. There is no option for it to dial 911 automatically, which would avoid misplaces.

This seems like a very helpful protection measure, even though it's possible for friends to receive unintended emergency messages. No equivalent for security control included in iOS is given and Google is continuing to expand into the personal safety area after last year's implementation of car crash detection. And now this initiative is moving to older pixels: they will be able to use the Personal Safety Feature early.

The other major new addition is a clock app's bedtime mode. 'When you are asleep, you'll get a snap of how much time you spend awake and which apps,' Google wrote in its blog post. "We are asleep to soothe sounds and limit breaks while you sleep.

Those who are always dependent on the Google Recorder software are next to a nice comfort. You can now start recordings with Google Assistant (or scan for your current recordings). Best still, the documents in Google Docs can be transcribed automatically. Further collaboration between Google services and applications is always good to see.

Finally, the adaptive battery feature is enhanced by Google. "Adaptive Pixel 2 battery will now predict whether your battery will go out, and the the background operation further so that your Pixel can hold its power longer."
