The US administration will encourage TikTok to end the day and 'Overlook' its own deadline

According to Bloomberg, the Trump administration would not impose ByteDance's own deadline for the selling or spread of TikTok's video-share site in the USA.

On 28 November the new deadline for such a move was 4 December today, issued by the United States Committee on Foreign Investment (CFIUS). An extension is not planned, but as long as discussions continue" between Trump and TikTok will be "passed over," reports Bloomberg.

CNN tech correspondent Brian Fung reveals that the United States does not adhere with its own timetable and his sources amusingly say that the absence of a deadline is confirmation that the US is "highly motivated" to end revenue conversations.

The Trump administration has consistently claimed TikTok and ByteDance are a national security concern, and the US Department of Commerce released an order in September to ban TikTok downloads. But Trump then said he agreed to an offer to build a new US-based firm named TikTok Global through Oracle and Walmart, but it's not clear how security threats would be dealt with. This offer also includes Chinese endorsement, which has not been reached yet.
