Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Security and Poverty Reduction, said Thursday that the budget for emergency cash has been extended. The increased budget seeks to support more than 16,9 million people. The budget rose to Rs.203 Million for the project.
The emergency cash system was introduced in April of this year. The budget agreed initially amounted to Rs. 144 billion for nearly 12 million beneficiaries.
While addressing the press conference, Sania Nishtar said that this is the largest social security initiative launched by the nation. The Ehsaas Emergency Cash Initiative has made a major contribution to the extension of social safety nets since the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ehsaas software has been in high demand in these turbulent times and has proven to be an overwhelming success. While addressing the press conference, Sania said: "The curriculum is completely open, rule-based and merit-based, and apolitical. Sindh has the most to benefit from this system that reveals its apolitical essence.
Sania also told the press that, contrary to the emergency cash system in other nations, the Ehsaas Emergency Cash System has gained universal recognition by providing prompt cash assistance on such a wide scale in such an coordinated manner.
Ehsaas service has also introduced 'Ehsaas Emergency Cash-Know Your Status' a platform that provides users with ease of access to Ehsaas Emergency Cash to verify their eligibility in a cash emergency programme, with more than 12.86 million applicants providing one-time financial assistance of Rs.155.64 billion.
