Tesla to hold on September 22nd the shareholder meeting and 'battery day'

Finally, Tesla has agreed on a date for its postponed annual shareholder meeting and investor "battery day": September 22. The conference will take place in person at the automobile factory of the company in Fremont , California, although it is likely to be live streamed as well. Only people who are stock shareholders can attend.

The annual shareholder meeting at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View , California, was originally scheduled for July 7th. The company intended to make shareholders attend and watch online in person, and at the time said it would "track public health and travel safety protocols required or approved by federal , state and local governments."

But major gatherings in California have remained banned due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so CEO Elon Musk declared last month that it would cancel the meeting. Musk previously said he was targeting September 15 "temporarily."

Shareholders are required to vote and share views on a variety of topics at the meeting, such as whether the company will begin paying for conventional advertisements. Many of Tesla's board members are also up for reelection, including chairwoman Robyn Denholm, who took over in 2018 as a result of a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission after Musk was banned from chairing any publicly traded company for 3 years.

The battery day event was originally scheduled for earlier this year but was also delayed due to the pandemic. Tesla is expected to reveal a number of advances in its battery tech that could give it an even bigger advantage over other electric vehicle companies. Musk said last month that Tesla will offer a tour of the "cell production system" of the company, which is probably a reference to the secretive "Roadrunner" project of the company in order to reduce the cost of making batteries will increase volume.
