Students win Smart India Hackathon by creating a clock with a hidden CCTV camera.

The hardware edition of the Smart India Hackathon 2020, organized by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (now known as the Ministry of Education), was won by a group of students for a cool hidden CCTV camera system that offers surveillance without revealing its presence to the perpetrator.

In case you didn't know, the Smart India Hackathon aims to solve a societal problem in order to promote a product-innovation community and a problem-solving mentality. The government of Madhya Pradesh has called attention to the issue of CCTV cameras.

The camera is an IoT-enabled camera that sits discretely in a display board, similar to matrix clocks or railway station displays. The hidden camera setup will aid in catching the criminals off guard, particularly if they believe there is no camera watching over their shoulder. Furthermore, this prevents it from being affected by offenders prior to the commission of the crime.

This was created by students from Punjab's Lovely Professional University (Team Electronica) and Andhra Pradesh's QIS Engineering College (Team Smart Spectators). The coveted award went to both parties as joint winners.

Medisetty Arun Sai Teja, a final-year BTech student at LPU, led the project with the help of his team, which included Juluri Bharath Kumar, Nukala Ram Kumar, Meka Vishnu Madhavi, Naitik Gohain, and Kasthuri Bhanu Prakash. Dr. Rajesh Singh, Dr. Anita Gehlot, and Professor Mandeep Singh of LPU served as mentors to the students.

I am extremely proud of winning at the Smart India Hackathon, Arun Medisetty said after winning the competition. The hackathon was a lot of fun, and it gave us all a chance to put what we'd learned into effect, expand our horizons, and be recognized on such a prestigious forum. I owe a debt of gratitude to my alma mater for encouraging and inspiring us during the competition.

The winning ideas are given the opportunity to be patented and applied in the real world. The Hackathon also provides students with the ability to be employed by top public and private corporations.
