Spotify's desktop apps are now running great for Chromecast users

Spotify's Mac and Windows applications will now start streaming to Chromecast users, says 9to5Google. Previously, these applications were able to monitor pre-existing Chromecast feeds, but they weren't able to launch them directly. Instead, you needed to launch the Chromecast stream on iOS or Android before it could be operated using the Spotify Connect mobile app.

You will launch the Chromecast stream on your mobile devices in the same manner as the Spotify Connect stream — by pressing the "Supported Apps" button at the bottom right of the screen. In there, you can switch from your listening apps, which now have both Google Cast and Spotify Connect-enabled speakers.

The enhancement that comes with version 1.1.38 of the mobile software is something that users have been waiting for for for years. There are posts in the Spotify Community Forums dating back to 2015, the same year as Google launched its (now discontinued) Chromecast Audio Dongle.
