Spotify is testing a new Snapchat Stories functionality alongside some of its playlists. For example, a group of artists like Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Clarkson and Pentatonix use a series of brief video clips to share personal stories about the festive season and their songwriting processes. Engadget states that related stories have been included on the Tear Drop emo rap playlist, and a version of Megan Thy Stallion's Good News song.
You will access the videos from the icon at the top left of each sponsored playlist. Tapping it shows an interface that is familiar to anybody who has ever seen an Instagram or Snapchat story, allowing you to tap on the left or right of the screen to skip through a series of brief video clips.
Spotify announced the latest functionality in the statement given to Engadget, but said it was a beta and stopped short of announcing a larger update. At Spotify, we routinely perform a number of tests to improve our user experience, said the spokesperson. Some of these experiments end up paving the way for our larger user interface, and others act just as valuable learning. At this time, we have no more news to share on future planning.
Since debuting on Snapchat, stories have become increasingly common sight across a wide variety of social networks and other services. Instagram's implementation of the format is one of the most known, although other sites, including YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn, have adopted variants of the feature. This isn't even Spotify's first story test since an attempt with a feature called Storylines back in 2019.
