Spotify Premium users can now hold a listening group of up to five friends — even if they're living far apart.

Spotify also encourages its paid subscribers to listen to music and podcasts with friends and family at the same time, even though they're not in the same place. Through way of its beta feature called Group Session, any subscription user will create a shared link with up to five friends who already have Spotify Premium, which will allow them to access content concurrently.
 
Every person in the streaming group can pause, repeat, skip, or pick tracks in the queue, and they can also make their own choices. There's no chat option, which means listeners may have to focus on a third-party device to speak to their friends about podcasting or music.
 
To host a session, Premium users can pick the Link menu in the bottom left corner of their play screen and scroll down to "Start Community Session."
 
When clicked, they will receive a shared connection that they can send via social media or texting. The app is currently in beta, states Spotify, but the company says it plans to "evolve" it over time.
 
Community Sessions were first introduced in May as a platform for organizing in-person events. Hosts will share the Spotify Code that their guests are checking to join the band. For years , the business has been developing its paid product apps in an effort to enable them to pay.
 
It helps them to cover songs from playlists, and previously sold Hulu and Google Home to subscribers. It is only one more thing to add to the list of more expected to come.
