Some famous Reddit communities oppose hate speech policies on the site privately

A community initiative to condemn hate speech policies of the Site and the ongoing police brutality and racial crisis surrounding the USA is being taken by some of Reddit's most frequented, involved sub-regulatory groups this week.

Former Chief Executive Ellen Pao, who claimed on Twitter earlier this week that the organization "moneticizes white supremacy and bigotry all the day long," said Reddit would also have forgotten r / The Donald a long time ago, and quarantined it last year because of the persistent breach of its rules on hate and aggressive rhetory. Their decision follows harsh criticisms.

In reaction to a post CEO and co-founder Steve Huffman, who was posted on Monday, the community of Reddit said "don't support bigotry, racism and abuse, and while we have to do some work to counter this on our site, we have strong values."

Moderators are taking private sub-dits, and banning new posts from publishing for a whole day or 8 minutes and 46 seconds to George Floyd, the black Minnesota individual killed last week by a former Minneapolis police officer.

"The editors of AskReddit have agreed to deactivate the eight minutes and the fourty-six seconds commenting for when George Floyd was arrested by the police, as well as to lock up comments on front-page posts." "We hope that people can take a moment to read this and think about what can be done to change the environment."

The death of Floyd has sparked indignation across the world and led to massive protests in the United States and in other cities around the world. The violent response by the police and military has turned the situation into a national crisis.

Some of the sub-edits included r / AskReddit, r / NFL, and r / EDM. The time the sub-determinations remain private or block new posts is unknown.

The note published by the r / NFL Moderators, who went private this week, reads: "Reddit had racists as a platform for the years /u / spez. Huffman, who takes the Reddit handle special, receives the post. "This has constantly led to racism being fought through the kneeling of Black Lives Matter."

The r / NFL mods specifically ask Reddit to implement a bigotry policy, by actively removing "heavy hate participants through its principal and alt account." If the company does not comply, the moderators say "the resignation of the management of Reddit is called for."
