"Shut down" social media after Twitter Fact Checks Trump Threatens

President Trump fired two tweets Wednesday to his 80 million followers, suggesting that after Twitter has tested his promises to vote via phone, he will be closing down social media sites.

While the company has been involved in discussions about freedom of speech and false or endangering posts for years, it checked the tweets of the President for the first time on Tuesday.

Twitter flagged two Trump tweets which linked mail-in votes to voting fraud by posting a link to the people who read: "Get facts about mail-in votes." The Twitter tweets were not supported.

After clicking on the prompt people have been taken to a newsletter page that refutes the President's claims, together with the collection of tweets from newsagents and journalists.
