PM Narendra Modi's Official website to be available in 6 UN languages, 22 Indian languages

On Thursday, the Government sought proposals from agencies to redesign the official website of the Prime Minister, which will be available in six UN languages and 22 scheduled Indian languages. The Prime Minister 's current website is available in 12 languages.
 
The Government is looking to engage a professional and established agency with expertise in the design , production and maintenance of websites, based on a request for a proposal (RFP) from the National e-Governance Division (NeGD).
 
"... the Agency will be expected to prepare comprehensive software specifications specification, provide end-to - end managed website creation and maintenance services and locate the PM India portal to 22 official Indian languages and six official languages of the United Nations," the RFP said.
 
The six languages of the UN are Arabic, Chinese , English , French, Russian and Spanish. The list of Indian languages includes: Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil , Telugu and Urdu.
 
There will be a single website with the option of designing , creating, running, maintaining, translating and translating the language selection of the PM India website by the website user.
The proposed website would be able to request or suggest a language based on a number of other considerations, including geo-location and language collection background.
 
"The static as well as the dynamic content on the site will be translated and transliterated. The content will be given to the selected agency in English or Hindi word format / PDF searchable," said the paper.
 
The new website proposes real-time integration with all common social media sites, including social media platforms integrated with the current website. "The Prime Minister's social media feed shall be taken from these channels and made available on the website," said the paper.
 
The Government has set July 30 as the last date for submission of applications for the project and August 7 as the final date for submission.
