Oppo has revealed plans for the international release of the first smartwatch, Oppo Watch. The wearable was launched in China earlier this year with a modified version of Android, but Oppo is launching a global edition of Google's Wear OS on board.
Oppo defines Oppo Watch as the world's first dual-curved smartwatch, i.e. the OLED screen bends on two sides like many of the company's products. It is available in 46 mm and 41 mm sizes with optional LTE compatibility in the larger model. The 430mAh battery is charged in 75 minutes and is half finished in 15 minutes.
I've already checked the Chinese version of the Oppo Watch, and I consider the hardware to be pretty good, but it's difficult to ignore the fact that it looks a lot like an Apple Watch. What I wrote at the time,
Overall , I think this watch looks perfect in a vacuum, but it doesn't get around: people either think you 're wearing an Apple Watch or they know you 're wearing something that really looks like an Apple Watch. It's up to you to know if that's what you expect from your wristwear.
I liked what Oppo did with the Chinese version of the phone, including some of the built-in features. Wear OS will certainly boost in terms of making the software usable outside of China, but we'll have to see how Oppo has been able to achieve the same features with less power over the operating system.
Oppo confirms that the watch will roll out in selected markets starting today, but has not provided any specific information about precisely when and where it will be. Nevertheless, we also provide pricing statistics for a variety of main areas. In the United Kingdom, the 46 mm Oppo Watch will cost 369 ($484) and the 41 mm will cost 229 ($300), while in India it will cost Rs. 19,990 ($267) for the 46 mm and Rs. 14,990 ($200) for the 41 mm.
