Nokia expresses interest in assisting Pakistan in developing a 5G ecosystem plan.

According to recent reports, Nokia is interested in aiding Pakistan's technology industry in developing a 5G ecosystem in the nation. In this regard, the Finnish multinational conglomerate intends to work with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT).

The MoITT has already initiated a consultation for the introduction of 5G services in Pakistan and has assessed seven bands for the country's adoption of 5G technology. These bands are split into three categories: low, mid, and high bands, which comprise 700 MHz; 2.3 GHz; 2.6 GHz; 3.5 GHz; Millimeter-wave bands; C-Band (3.6-4.2) GHz, and Unlicensed Backhaul Frequency bands (P2P and P2MP).

In addition, a conference with respective 5G vendors was held, chaired by Muhammad Umar Malik, and attended by executives from Huawei, Ericsson, and Nokia online from their regional offices, with the goal of discussing the future of 5G services in the nation. This debate also included the interoperable airwaves band, interoperable UE, and 5G Telecom equipment, as well as the launch strategy for the relevant services.

As of now, an advisory group known as the 5G Pakistan Plan Committee has been formed, with the goal of developing a roadmap and then finalizing recommendations to ensure that Pakistan is 5G ready.
