Google Assistant is having a new update that makes it easy to contribute funds to various charitable and non-profit groups, beginning with the Centre for Community Justice, an agency that aims to encourage community integrity and accountability.
The news was revealed today to coincide with the 57th anniversary of the March in Washington , DC. The latest donation workaround can only be reached on cell phones right now, either by saying -Hey Google, donate to racial justice, by Assistant (either directly on Android or via the iOS app) or by using a special card in Google Assistant's Regular Snapshot Display.
Google claims it's not going to take a break from contributions received by Help, with 100% of the gifts flowing straight to the Police Service Fund. The business also plans to extend the Google Assistant donation functionality to benefit other charitable and non-profit organisations in the coming weeks, but Google has yet to inform the organisations it has selected.
Although the inclusion of a donation option is definitely an impressive one, it is important to remember that the news does not contain any additional monetary contributions to end Google's contribution to address economic injustice above the $175 million that the organization had already pledged in June.
