Netflix has developed a TikTok-style app that allows users to swipe through hilarious videos.

Netflix is introducing a new mobile feature that allows subscribers to get their daily dose of laughs without having to watch an entire TV show or movie.

Fast Laughs looks and sounds like TikTok or Instagram Reels, and is currently only available for iOS device owners in a few countries. Quick clips from shows like Big Mouth and stand-up specials from comedians like Jerry Seinfeld and Ali Wong are available to watch directly within the Netflix app. People can save titles to their saved list to watch later if one of the series, films, or specials piques their interest.

We're always searching for new ways to entertain and make exploration easier for members, said Patrick Flemming, Netflix's director of product innovation. Fast Laughs is a new full-screen feed of funny clips from a wide range of Netflix titles, ranging from films and shows to our deep bench of stand-up specials, according to Netflix.

Given the current growth and popularity of TikTok in the industry, adding Quick Laughs makes sense for Netflix. TikTok has been listed in Netflix's most recent earnings reports as a major competitor. Netflix and TikTok don't produce the same form of content, but people are spending more time on TikTok and less time on Netflix. It's a smart business move to give iPhone users something else to scroll through on their tablets, and then convert it into more time spent on the app by persuading them to revisit Big Mouth.

It also aids Netflix in emphasizing the sheer volume of content available on the website. Netflix has made significant investments in stand-up comedy, has signed multi-picture deals with comedians such as Adam Sandler and Kevin Hart, and is expanding its animation lineup. Since there is so much content on the web, a lot of it can get lost. This is one way of giving subscribers a sneak peek into what they may have overlooked. That's the main difference between TikTok and Netflix's Quick Laughs: Netflix isn't trying to create a new app to provide entertainment; instead, it's using a new feature to keep users on its existing platform.

Customers can access Fast Laughs by selecting the Fast Laughs tab from the bottom navigation menu. Quick Laughs will be tested on Android devices in the near future.
