Midnight Trains, the French startup that wants to turn old trains into rolling hotels

A little scent of the Orient Express . While night trains are returning to the smell of sanctity, a French startup aims to position itself in this market with a premium offer. To stand out, the company Midnight Trains relies on luxurious services to attract customers accustomed to flying. Launched by the co-founder of the crowfunding platform KissKissBankBank, Adrien Aumont, Midnight Trains announces the first night rail links from 2024. From Paris, trains could travel over distances of 1,500 kilometers to eventually reach cities not served by the high-speed trains, such as Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Rome or even Porto.

Obviously, the journeys promise to be particularly long, but the company wants them to be the most pleasant. On board these rolling hotels, customers will have individual rooms, couples or families, ultra-comfortable reminiscent of the services of luxury hotels. Travelers can order a cocktail from the train bar car before enjoying a fine dinner in the restaurant. Midnight Trains will also offer a concierge service to its travelers.

In short, another way of traveling, and which intends to compensate the price by its services, the travel time and manage to compete with the air in a situation of virtual monopoly today on this type of distance. It must be said that from an environmental point of view, the train has some advantages up its sleeve. A trip between Paris and Rome will generate 23 times less CO2 emissions than on board a commercial airliner, says the company, convinced that ecological awareness will change travel habits to combine responsibility and comfort. A seductive bet!
