Microsoft rolls out crash fix for Outlook in desktop version

Microsoft's Windows Outlook email app began crashing at launch today for a large number of users around the world. Business users of Office 365 reported that Outlook started and then crashed immediately, apparently following a recent update. "We 're investigating whether a recent update could be the source of this issue," Microsoft initially explained in an update to Twitter status.

“Our teams have begun to roll out a mitigation for an issue affecting user access to Outlook, ” says Microsoft in a statement to The Verge.

Microsoft now says a fix to the issue is being rolled out that should reach all customers in the next few hours.

Affected users should be able to log in on the web to Outlook until the issues are resolved in full. IT admins on Reddit have also tested a variety of workarounds to roll back the update that seems to have caused today's crashes.
