Logitech already gives up its Harmony remote control controlled by Alexa

With its Harmony Express remote control, Logitech's Harmony brand tried to reinvent the wheel and did not succeed. The company has just sent an email reminding customers that the remote $250 – which used Amazon's Alexa Spokeswoman to monitor different components of their home theater – would end after September 30. According to this FAQ, it is entirely separated from the clouds Harmony and Alexa. Hey. Hey.

Inaugurated in April 2019, the Harmony Express is a pretty short lifespan for which the company was placed as a big product.

The sales of the product have already stopped, which clearly did not start the way Logitech expected, by retailers like Amazon and Best Buy.
The organization takes other steps to support clients who have taken the opportunity to buy the Express so read about this for information.

"Alexa Built-In is designed to substitute a basic voice interface for the sophistication of the touch screens and programmable buttons found in other Harmony remote systems," wrote Harmony in an e-mail to its customers.

“Unfortunately, our expectations were not met for this kind of Harmony remote, and as a result we’ve decided to focus our efforts on our core user experience: powerful universal remote control in a world with many devices connected to the TV.”

Logitech attempted, for its faithful home theatre, to create a voice-driven, convenience-focused remote and widely rejected the concept. And now, the Harmony Express remembers how cloud-based devices can become an unwanted piece of plastic easily.

Logitech says it will exchange anybody's Harmony Express for the Harmony Elite free to alleviate the blow of this very brusque discontinuation. "Harmony Elite has a powerful programmable controller for AV and intelligent home control, which works together with other Amazon Alexa tools to allow voice control."

But if that is not good enough, the company is also happy to reimburse anyone who can provide proof of purchasing its Harmony Express app. Repays are done by TransferWise.com and will take approximately five days after receipt.

Customers can ask either for an exchange for the Harmony Elite or for a full refund until December 31st and, according to Logitech, the product owners will receive updates and emails about the 30th Sept cut-off over the next few weeks.

You can go here for all the information about the exchange / rebates process if you wanted to purchase the Harmony Express.
