Like Instagram, Facebook launches a Shop tab in its app

Facebook is doubling the number of people in its e-commerce business and trying to turn shopping into a destination in its main app. As a test today in the United States , the company starts Facebook Shop, a search engine in the main Facebook application that allows people to find products to buy and buy in the app.

The Company is also expanding the Shops product launched at the beginning of this year, which allows people to sell Facebook and Instagram products to all eligible companies globally, as well as new customisation solutions, messages, and insights into measuring results.

Vendors can communicate with clients via Messenger, Instagram Direct and eventually WhatsApp. Sellers can also host live shopping events in which they broadcast live and display products, which customers can purchase on Facebook and Instagram via the stream.

Instagram Checkout also extends to all eligible sellers in the U.S., which enables brands to complete their transactions through the application. Due to the pandemic, transaction charges shall be waived throughout the year.

All these product updates and extensions point to the seriousness of Facebook as a business line about shopping. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says that he anticipates in 2019 that the future of business and payments is the future of the company, which it fulfills. Facebook still relies on the monetization of transactions currently taking place on its platform, but it will most likely become a major revenue line and diversify the firm away from advertising if it ultimately starts to collect those fees.
