LG construction of sliding doors made of translucent OLED displays

LG has collaborated with the Swedish manufacturer Assa Abloy Entrance Systems to create automated sliding doors with integrated translucent OLED displays, the company announced today. The doors will be targeted at companies, and LG promises that they will be able to accept clients, interact with staff, or view advertisements.

LG has been exhibiting its transparent displays for a while now and it introduced a number of transparent displays early this year. Today, we see the panels used in the modern world. In August, LG reported that its displays were being used in Beijing and Shenzhen subway car windows in China, and OLED-Info notes that both Panasonic and Xiaomi's translucent OLED TVs are using LG screens.

South Korea's other main display maker, Samsung, has also experimented with transparent OLED displays in the past, but the Korea Herald claimed in 2016 that the system had ceased to be developed.

LG's statement does not provide any hint as to when these high-end doors could become accessible to companies. However, provided that translucent OLED technology has begun to be introduced, it cannot be too far away from decorating the most decadent shopping centers in the country.
