In order to produce and host a new and exclusive podcast, Kim Kardashan West has made agreement with Spotify.
The agreement was signed by Spotify last month with the Juggernaut Podca Juggernaut Joe Rogan, which later this year moves his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience to the music streaming platform.
Kardashian West published the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday for the first time.
The financial terms of the deal are unclear; media reports have said Rogan had more than $100 million in exclusive contracts with Spotify.
Kardashian West's is unlikely to be so lucrative as she does not migrate to Spotify 's platform any already popular podcast, as Rogan did, but starts an entirely new one.
Spotify refused to comment on the deal's specifics.
Kardashian West is a vocal advocate of the reform of criminal justice and has worked on a trainee programme.
Through her studies, she has extensively worked with the Innocence Project, a nonprofit that aims to exonerate wrongfully convicted people through DNA testing and to promote wider criminal justice reforms.
The podcast, which will be distributed through the Parcast Spottily network, purchased last year, will highlight both Kardashian West and co-producer Lori Rothschild Ansaldi's research efforts. Both co-produce the show and host the show together.
The deal is just the last one to capture the podcasting landscape in Spotify 's continuous push. Gimlet Media, a producer of popular podcasts Reply All and The Pitch, was purchased by the company in 2019.
Spotify purchased the Ringer, the culture and sports website of Bill Simmons and the podcast network, primarily in February because of their network of popular shows.
Spotify has been the most funded company in the podcast sector. He is prepared to pay for exclusivity and clearly wants to get away from the dominance of other platform-owners, such as Apple and YouTube, where many podcasters post also video versions.
