Twitch Sings, a live karaoke music website, is closing down, the organization reported. The business says it has agreed to close the game with effect from 1 January 2021 to invest in wider platforms and resources that will help to promote and expand the music industry as a whole on Twitch.
Twitch Sings was released in April 2019, and let the streamers select a song from their library to play. Singers may be belting one out on their own or asking mates to join in on a duet. The channel does not appear to have drawn a massive following, however; although Twitch 's total Music segment has more than 3 million subscribers, Twitch Sings accounted for just 161,000 of those fans.
Looking forward, we 're excited to learn more about the future of Twitch music and how we're planning to make Twitch the perfect way to get you closer to the artists and music you enjoy, the organization said after confirming the closure.
The Amazon-owned streaming site says it's clearing the whole list of 400 new tracks so fans can step up to the mic for one more swan song before things end for good.
The music group of Twitch has been rising since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. Although music remains a limited category for Twitch in general, approximately 17.6 million hours were transmitted during the month of July.
Twitch Sings will begin deleting videos and photos as of December 1st, and by January 1st, the remaining on-demand content, including previous shows, photos, and excerpts, will also be deleted.
