QR codes are provided in Instagram. Users can now generate QR-codes that can be scanned from third-party camera applications. Last year the product was first launched in Japan. The idea is that companies can print their QR code for easily opening their Instagram account and have it scanned by customers. People can look at shop hours, purchase items, or simply follow the account from there.
Go to the settings menu of your profile and tap QR code to generate your QR code. You could still see Nametag, but it would become QR code eventually. Then you can save or share your picture.
Instagram used a similar system called Nametags that were internal QR codes that could only be scanned from Instagram. Instagram used a system like this. Now the feature is completely deprecated.
Many other apps, including Twitter , Facebook , Snapchat, Spotify, use their own QR-like system. However, it is not surprising that Instagram uses the more open QR system with this pandemic. Instead of physical menus, restaurants have started leaving QR codes and other businesses request that people scan QR code to load their website.
While Nametags could have worked for this purpose, QR codes make scanning and making it easier for people to use Instagram camera to access information.
