Instagram makes it easy for users to shop inside the device. Today, it's starting to roll out a dedicated Shop page under the Explore tab that will highlight different brands and items that people can buy. The Shop page will also provide users with personalized advice on the things they need to buy, with everything they can buy from within the app.
Instagram also makes Facebook Pay, which lets people insert most of the debit or credit card information into the app and save it to share money easily. Facebook Pay is available for both purchases and donations, which have been planned since the product debuted. Both of these apps are coming to the US first.
Combined, these features make Instagram shopping more smooth, particularly when it comes to paying. Customers don't have to leave Instagram or continuously re-enter their payment details to buy something that was once a big obstacle for customers. Instagram pays a referral price on orders made over Instagram, and it has set itself up to potentially take advantage of such transactions as shopping becomes more commonplace with the web.
Instagram slowly added retail apps to the app. Last year, in-app payments were made and, in 2018, users started to add items in their images and video posts, making them more monetizable. Instagram sets itself up to be both a place where people can find inspiration for lifestyle or clothing, and where they can effortlessly purchase items to make that dream life a reality.
