In gross merchandise volume, Alibaba hits the $1 t 5 year aim

Chinese corporate giant Zang Yong, CEO of Alibaba Group, announced in a letter to the shareholders on Friday, that it had met a target of $1 trillion in gross goods volume five years ago.

The achieved volume is a major milestone for Alibaba, says Zhang, and sets a new objective of serving 1 billion Chinese customers to achieve a total consumption of 10 trillion yuan over the next five years and moving forward globally.

Alibaba wants to serve 2 billion international customers by 2036, create 100 million jobs, and help more than ten million SMEs to be profitable, Zhang said.

According to Zhang, Alibaba will continue to push forward on its "globalization strategies, China's domestic consumption and cloud-enhanced big data," with globalization as the long-run battle, China's domestic consumption as the cornerstone, and cloud-built big data.

The Group revenues in the 2020 fiscal year reached 509.71billion yuan, jumping at 35% year-on-year, and yuan revenues reached 140.35billion yuan, up 75 percent from the same period last year, according to its latest financial report.
