Be Humble. The race for solar vehicles is on. While the electric car is still struggling to compete with gasoline engines, concept cars that bet on energy from the sun are flourishing. The latest, the smashing Humble One, biting SUV which aims to become the benchmark of this growing segment. To do this, the young Californian brand, founded in 2020, does not skimp on the means and announces remarkable performances but always at the projection stage because no prototype has yet been built by the firm.

250 km / h at peak but… 30 km of autonomy. Thanks to its electric motor rechargeable on terminal or at home, Humble One should thus propel its some 1,800 kilos to nearly 250 km / h, swallow 0 to 100 km / h in 4.9 seconds and offer a range of 800 kilometers. Above all, this model could exceed 30 kilometers of autonomy only thanks to solar energy - or even approach 100 kilometers, depending on the sunshine - while approaching the average daily distance traveled by an American, that is to say 48 kilometers. Sufficient to cover the home-work distance.

It is yours for 300 €… This economic and ecological performance, the manufacturer thinks to achieve it thanks to an innovative photovoltaic cell system covering no less than 8 m2 of the vehicle. Mainly positioned on the roof, these concentrates of technology making it possible to capture solar energy will also be distributed over the doors and side windows. The concept also provides for removable fenders increasing the surface area for capturing the sun's rays when the vehicle is stationary, as well as a portable solar tonneau cover.

But in this area, as in conventional electrics, performance comes at a cost. The Humble One is announced at a price of 109,000 dollars (90,000 euros) and should not be delivered until 2025. Count 300 dollars to reserve one now . And while the road is long before the release of this promising model, Humble seems on the right track with these $ 20 million in pre-orders claimed.
