Google will also search malicious files for users with Advanced Security

Google's Enhanced Encryption software seeks to shield high-profile individuals who are increasingly at risk of being targeted for online threats with additional security options in Chrome, and is introducing a new update today. Those registered will be able to submit files that Advanced Security believes are dangerous to be scanned in full by Google's Secure Browsing malware identification technology.

Previously, the Advanced Security capabilities went as far as flagging or banning a transfer that was perceived to be a problem. Today , Google states that if a downloaded file looks questionable, a new alternative will be available for registered users to upload it for an in-depth scan.

If the user agrees, Chrome will upload it, and Secure Browsing's complete review will conduct a fast review using metadata, such as file hashes, to determine if it is remotely illegal, "during which the file is deleted from its servers, Google says. Regardless of the judgment on file protection, users can continue to copy and open the file as they wish.

This function builds on other protections in place to secure Google's accounts for public features, such as activists, writers, politicians, and more. The software allows two physical security keys to be used, one serving as a backup. And if an Advanced Security customer loses access to their account, Google will have extra measures in order to check their identity so that it does not fall into the wrong hands.
