Google said Iranian hackers targeted Chinese hackers to Trump campaign

Google security researchers say that two national State-backed hackers have identified efforts against the presidential camps of Trump and Biden.

Shane Huntley, Google Three Analysis Director, tweeted Chinese and Iranian-supported hackers in recent years , saying they were targeted with malicious phishing emails.

But, as said Huntley, the two campaigns are alerted to the attempts, "there are no signs of compromise."

"We can confirm that we have recently seen phishing activities from our Threat Analysist Group by a Chinese group that target Biden campaign staff 's personal e-mail accounts and an Iranian group that target Trump campaign personnel's personal email accounts.

We saw no signs of progress in these attempts.

We have sent our standard government-backed warning to the target users and referred this information to the federal police.

We encourage campaign workers to use extra protection for their jobs and for their own e-mails and we offer security resources such as our Advanced Protection Programme.

We are aware of Google reports that a foreign actor has failed to access campaign personnel's personal email accounts, a spokesman said.

We knew from the beginning of our campaign that we were subject to and ready for these attacks.

We will continue to take cyber security seriously for president Biden and ensure that the assets of the campaign are safeguarded. Biden said.

The Trump campaign also informed us that foreign actors have attempted to violate the technology of our employees without success. But a spokesman refused to talk about the precautions.

In a follow-up tweet, Huntley said hackers have been identified with the TP31 of China and the TP35 of Iran, both of them known to target officials of the government.

However, it's not the first time Iranian hackers have targeted the Trump campaign. Last year Microsoft blamed APT35 for targeting the Trump campaign later on.

Since the attempts at attacks last year, both Republicans and Democrats have enhanced their campagne cyber security.

Recently, the Democrats revised their security checklist for campaigning and released guidelines against misinformation and the Republicans organized training sessions in order to boost education for the officials in the campaign.
