Google adds new home school features to smart displays and speakers assistant

Google is today expanding its assistant 's ability on smart displays and speakers to facilitate home school families during the pandemic.

The new Family Bell feature is the leading way, an alarm-style memory to be broadcast at a certain time from a smart Nest Home display or speaker. Google sets the Bell family to announce when it is time for families to start school or get ready for bed. A parent can schedule a Family Bell via the phone's Assistant app, set it off and repeat on specific days, and select which smart or smart device it is going to use.

Family Bell alerts may also be programmed by Hey Google voice commands; however, the Assistant app must be used for any administration afterwards.

The Nest device emitting a chime and saying anything programmed in the app is revoked by the Family Bell alert. Although you may program a variety of Family Bells for one time, only one smart display or speaker can broadcast each Bell. Another feature new to home school children is the ability to announce an intelligent Nest display or speakers on starting the day of school and to display graphics that address the subject. You can say Hey Google, school is in session or Start the day in school.

Smart home devices like lights can also be programmed to react when the command is issued. This is like an old-school bell – but in-house – by Lilian Rincón, senior product manager of Google Assistant.

Google also extends the broadcast function, so that all nest speakers in your home can receive a custom warning. Now, you can specify which speakers or intelligent views a broadcast will go to and prevent a child from sleeping.

Finally, Nest 's intelligent displays and speakers receive a daily animal, which provides facts, sounds and a creative task for an animal each day, such as drawing. You can hear about the animal of the day by telling a smart nest display or a nest speaker "Hey Google, tell me about the bird of the day."

All of these new features are now being implemented in intelligent Nest Hub displays and Nest Home speakers.
