Google adds a new health center and sleep monitoring metric to its Fit mobile apps.

Google has announced an upgrade to its Fit mobile applications that will add a new unified home screen for health-related information and more sleep tracking data. Updates for both the Android and iOS versions of Google Fit will be released this week. Google is now introducing additional tiles to the Smartwatch Wear OS app for workouts, temperature and breathing exercises.

The new features are very much in line with the current Google Fit update introduced last year. But the new home screen brings some key data points like weekly goals, recent workouts, and health details like heart rate and weight patterns to the front and middle. As for sleep monitoring, Google says Wear OS devices and compatible smart home accessories including Fossil Gen 5E, Oura Band, and Withings sleep tracking mat can now sync data with the Fit app to monitor nighttime behavior and sleep, while the sleep tracking feature now lets you set targets for bedtime routines.

Google says you can also email statistics, routes, and images from your Google Fit exercise journal entries via social media or messaging apps. And the revamped Wear OS tiles will also make it easy to monitor the temperature, start and end supervised breathing sessions, and launch recent shortcut workouts.
