Google is rolling out its amazing noise cancelation in Google Meet to Android and iOS, but sadly, it's not going to be open to everyone — you need to be a G Suite Enterprise or a G Suite Enterprise for Education customer to take advantage of the helpful functionality, Google says. This was first rolled out by Google for the network in June.
The technology is built to minimize background noise like a keyboard or a barking dog when you're on a Google Meet call. If you want to get an idea of how successful it can be, check out this VentureBeat video from June by Serge Lachapelle, G Suite Director of Product Management, showing how noise cancelation technology silences a crinking bag of snacks, a clicking pen, and a clinking glass (skip to 1:50 for noise cancelation demo):
Google's G Suite Updates blog says the noise cancelation function is shut off on a mobile device by default, but you can turn it on when on a call by accessing the call settings. (Here's Google's guide on how to do that.) The feature is starting today and should be completely rolled out in a couple of days.
