Google Duo will shortly be exclusive to Android TV

After announcing Chromecast support for Google Meet, Google has now announced that the company's mobile video chat service, Duo, is coming to Android TV in the form of a native app that lets users launch video calls from their TV screen. Google Duo beta for Android TV will be released "in the coming weeks." Both one-on-one and party video calls will be introduced with the app. When your TV doesn't have a webcam built-in, you should only plug in a USB camera, Google said in its blog post — assuming your TV allows that kind of thing.

The move continues with Google's push to carry its video chat applications to larger screens.

By introducing Chromecast support to Google Meet, the organization has made it more accessible for users where they can hold their work meetings. Often the combination of your sofa and the TV screen would work better than having a Laptop or a tablet.

Like Touch, Google Duo is now supported on the Nest Hub, Nest Hub Max, and other smart displays running Google apps. Expanding formats and ways to use Meet will only support Google, as it tries to do away with Zoom and Microsoft Teams. And it's going to take a long effort; as the organization says at the end of its blog post, internet calls don't go anywhere anytime soon.
