Gmail Users Facing Multiple Issues on Windows 10 Mail App, Several Users Report

Gmail accounts connected to the Mail app (also known as Mail and Calendar), which is pre-installed on Windows 10, face several issues, some users posted online. While some users have pointed out that their emails have been silently deleted by the app, different users have also mentioned that it is moving the email items sent to the spam folder. There are also some users on both Windows and Mac devices that face problems with the Outlook app. However, Microsoft is not yet providing any clarity.

As per the Microsoft Community forum posts, a significant number of Gmail users have been affected by the problems with the Mail app. "The emails I've been sending over the weekend were not seen in the folder of my sent things, while sometimes getting through to the recipient, sometimes not. My account was removed, I checked all the settings and followed the online guides. System patched, "listed one of the affected users on Microsoft Community forums.

Multiple users on the company forums complain about the same problem, as MSPowerUser spotted.

There are also different reports on the Microsoft Store that indicate issues with the Gmail integration available in the new version of the Mail app. "It's nice but it doesn't work very well with Gmail since I can't see the same attachments," wrote one of the users on the Microsoft Store.
Several users have also reported that on their Windows 10 machines they are not even able to connect their Gmail accounts to the Mail app. It means they need to turn to some other option for sending and receiving Gmail emails.

According to some Microsoft Community forum user posts, Google has stressed that there is no problem at the end.

I posted my question to the Gmail community and was told this is a issue that has been regularly documented by Windows 10 users, one user said in a forum post.

Some of the affected users have found a temporary workaround, which is to create a new filter which will not directly send emails to the spam folder. That workaround only works in the case where emails move to a spam folder. This doesn't work with users finding their emails unexpectedly deleted.

When talking to users in the Microsoft Community forums, a Windows Insider MVP said the problems were there because the new version (16005.12827.20200.0) of the Mail app is disabled for Gmail accounts.

However, Microsoft has not given any clarity on the matter yet. At the time of filing this story the company did not respond to an email requesting a comment on the issues.

Several reports say the problems go beyond the Mail app and impact users on both Windows and Mac computers, including on Outlook. There are several users of Microsoft 365 who have also found that Outlook is not saving their emails sent from a Gmail account. This indicates that the Microsoft end is experiencing some server-side problems. However, the company has yet to offer an acknowledgement.
