The latest Fitbit Charge 4 software update provides two big upgrades including dynamic GPS, and an option for "smart wake." The new features were first recorded by 9to5Google and are now rolling out to all users.
Dynamic GPS lets you connect to the GPS in your phone if it's within range, which can help with the accuracy of the location and preserve the battery life of the Fitbit. When your phone isn't close enough, the device switches to its internal GPS which can drain the battery faster.
The Smart Wake app is a pretty cool addition; it will work with the sleep tracker watch, and set alarms to wake you up when you're likely to be most rested. Another new feature allows users to determine how long the screen display will stay on until the Fitbit is awake.
The Fitbit Charge 4 also has Spotify control, a seven-day battery life, and other premium features that used to be reserved for its smartwatches, in addition to the new features. The Charge 4, published earlier this year, was selling for $149.95.
