The stormy Battle Royale mode of Fortnite took the world and Epic Games today announced the ending of the free-to-play and less popular Save the World mode of the early access label Epic Games. Epic has also announced that Save the World will continue to be a paid title, unlike the Battle Royale, and will start to slow down the publication of Save the World content with the 'official,' launch.
The early-access label for Fortnite is actually a holdover from when the Epic Games first released Save the World back in May 2017 as a paid early-access title — but it has remained on all versions of Fortnite until now, despite the fact that it's probably the most popular game in the world right now.
Save the World, a co-op survival game — originally described as a combination of Minecraft and Left 4 Dead — actually predates its far more popular spinoff Battle Royale (which was initially launched as a secondary mode before turning into its own free-to-play title) by a few months.
Epic had intended to make Save the World equally free after the success of Fortnite 's free-to-play Battle Royale mode, but with today 's launch it seems that those plans have changed because it slows down development on Save the World instead.
