Facebook is bringing enhanced reality effects to the developers of more ways to share their creations. The company revealed today, as part of its Facebook Connect case, that it would extend the reach of third-party developers to both Messenger and Platform, which ensures that the results generated by Spark AR, the Facebook AR software, will now be viewed in the app and computer. (AR effects already existed in both Messenger and Portal, but these effects will eventually come from developers outside Facebook's in-house team.) The team promises they'll have updates on when the third-party effects will start out early next year.
Facebook also mixed news and updates about the use of Spark AR. The organization now reports that more than 400,000 Spark AR developers from 190 countries have released more than a million AR effects on both Facebook and Instagram. Over the last three months, more than 150 accounts each have created over a billion views on Instagram. This is important considering that Facebook just took Spark AR out of beta last August.
