Facebook Starts Testing on 'Short Videos' Feature like TikTok,to Earn from Chinese Ban Apps

Facebook is testing a new 'Short Videos' feature within its app in a bid to cash in on the TikTok ban in India and proposed ban in the US. In the middle of the news feed, this new function is displayed and works the same way that TikTok was popular. Facebook recently introduced Instagram Reels in response to the popularity of TikTok, and now it also looks to introduce the same feature on Facebook. We 're not sure the scope for this feature to be tested, but we could see it on Facebook's latest version on an Android device.

Social media leader Matt Navarra tweeted for the first time that this new Short Videos feature is being tested by the social media giant in the Facebook app. This feature is much like the TikTok video format style, including the next video swipe-up display. This feature could also be found in our Facebook app, and appears to be widely available to Indian users. It may not be available to all users in India, however, and Facebook may only test it with a subset of users before it is commercially launched.

A Facebook spokesperson said via email when requested for a comment: We always test new creative instruments so that we can learn how we want to express ourselves. Short format videos are very popular and we are looking for new ways to connect, create and share this experience on Facebook.

The 'Short Videos' section has a very TikTok-like interface, where you can find loves and comments. The option Create and share short videos and explore new ways to express yourselves shows a new Facebook camera with a description. This new 'Short Videos" feature allows you to add music to your recorded clip, stop and record just as TikTok has allowed and share it in the app. This video will appear once posted on Facebook in the 'Short Videos' section.

Weeks after Facebook introduced Instagram Reels as its response to the Indian ban on TikTok, the new 'short video' function comes. This app is looking at a ban in the US too, and TikTok platform creators are going to have to sail to other media to keep building and collecting content. Facebook seeks these creators' new home, and a host of Indian creators have already started building content on Instagram Reels and can now also post it on Facebook.
