Facebook Dating is coming to Europe

Facebook's dating feature is expanding despite a regulatory pause, we're evaluating the new Amazon Echo, and President Donald Trump has a Twitter password on his nose. This is your Daily Crunch on October 22, 2020.

A big story: Facebook Dating is coming to Europe

Back in February, Facebook had to postpone the European launch date of its dating service after failing to provide the Irish Data Protection Commission with ample advance notice of the launch. Now the regulator seems to have given Facebook a go-ahead.

Facebook Dating (launched in the U.S. last year) allows users to create a different dating profile, find hidden chats, and view video dates.

As for any privacy and regulatory issues, the Commission told us, "Facebook has issued thorough clarifications on the processing of personal data in the sense of the Dating feature ... we will continue to track the app as it launches in the EU this week."
